frequently asked questions
What is beta-reading?
Beta-reading is when a reader (like you!) reads a work-in-progress for an author (like me!) and provides feedback on so I can gauge whether the story is on the right track.
how does it work?
First, you have to fill out the form above!
Then, when I finish a rough draft, I'll take a look at all my Book Nook readers and figure out if the story is the right one for you to beta-read. I'll send you an non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to sign that's specific to the story you're reading and, once I have that back, I'll send you the rough draft. We'll figure out a timeline together - usually two weeks - and you get to start reading.
Once you've finished your review, I have a feedback form you can fill out. After that, we'll sit down and talk about your feedback. I promise it won't be more than 15 minutes, unless you want to talk longer!

What happens if i can't meet the deadline?
Look, I get it. We commit to something, life happens, and we can't meet the deadline. It happens to everyone! If you've committed to a beta-read for me, and something comes up, all I ask is that you let me know. If you need an extension, we can figure that out. If you need to step back, that's fine - maybe the next one will be better!
